Thursday, July 14 | 12:00pm – 9:00pm

How do I get there?
The Boston Common is easily accessible by public transit. Take the Red or Green lines to Park St, or the Orange line to Chinatown and follow the crowd!
If you’re driving, set your GPS to “Boston Common”. There are parking lots underneath the Common and within the surrounding areas, but we highly recommend public transport to avoid parking fees.
What can I bring?
A blanket, sunscreen, your kids, your friends and a good attitude!
What can’t I bring?
No alcohol, drugs, weapons, negative ju-ju or Debbie Downers.
What about food and drinks?
Feel free to bring a picnic basket and stay all day! There will be food vendors if you forget to pack snacks, but bring any of your own favorites. And don’t forget to share.
Is Outside The Box kid-friendly?
We love kids! There are not only performances for kids located at the Lily Pad, but BY kids. And if your little ones get too wiggly to sit still, take them to the Frog Pond playground, the Museum of Fine Arts tent, or our Knucklebones area to run around. There will also be hands-on activities for kids of all ages.
Does Outside The Box provide disability access and accommodations?
We are in the first steps of working towards full accessibility. Check out our access page for all our Know Before You Go info!
What about safety?
We want to make sure that you, your family and your friends feel safe enough to come back and stay all day. We work closely with the City of Boston to make sure that Outside the Box is a friendly, secure place to spend your summer days. We will have EMT’s and police around if you feel unsafe at any point. The 2013 and 2015 festival had zero incidents of any kind reported, and we’d like to keep it that way.
